UK to Continue Intelligence Support for Ukraine, But Can’t Replace U.S. Capabilities

Britain will continue providing intelligence to Ukraine, but with more limited capabilities from London and other European countries, The Guardian reported on March 6.
At the same time, the agency added that Britain will be unable to share U.S. intelligence received through its exchange with Washington.
“They are not as far reaching as U.S. capabilities, not at the same scale and not able to take their place,” a former Whitehall insider said.
The source stated that this intelligence will help Ukraine maintain some early warning of attacks and retain a degree of deep strike capability against Russia.
This includes intelligence gathered from satellites, surveillance aircraft, ground-based reconnaissance systems, and human intelligence. It also covers open-source materials analyzed by relevant experts.
On March 5, CIA Director John Ratcliffe confirmed that the United States has temporarily halted intelligence sharing with Ukraine.
The NYT later reported that the U.S. intelligence-sharing pause with Kyiv impacts early warnings about Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian military and civilian targets.
