In its daily briefing on the course of what Moscow refers to as the “special military operation,”  the ministry also reported the downing of four long-range cruise missiles “Flamingo,” three multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) projectiles, and ten guided aerial bombs.

The statement further claims that Russian forces struck storage sites used for long-range UAVs and hit temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign fighters across 142 locations.

According to the ministry, the strikes were carried out using operational-tactical aviation, strike drones, missile troops, and artillery units.

Ukrainian officials have not confirmed any figures.

In the early hours of June 18, dozens of Ukrainian drones struck Moscow and the surrounding Moscow region, with several reaching the Moscow Oil Refinery.

Russian Telegram channels first began reporting drone activity over the capital and nearby areas, sharing footage that appeared to show UAVs flying across Moscow and its outskirts.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that some drones reached the Moscow Oil Refinery in the Kapotnya district, located roughly 15 kilometers southeast of the Kremlin, adding that authorities were responding to the aftermath of the attack.

“Air defense forces continue to repel the massive attack. Several drones managed to reach the Moscow Oil Refinery. Measures are being taken to eliminate the consequences,” Sobyanin wrote.

Telegram channel Exilenova+ reported that there were at least five separate fire hotspots at the refinery.

Sobyanin added that drone debris fell on the territory of the Sadovod shopping center, causing minor damage to one of the structures. He did not initially comment on reports specifically regarding the refinery strike.

Several hours later, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha responded to the question circulating in Moscow on the morning of June 18—“What is happening?”—by pointing out that Russia was the one that initiated the war.

“Your country started a war of aggression against ours. For years, it has been killing our people," Sybiha wrote. "Now that you know what's going on, ask Putin when he is planning to end it.”
