Ukraine’s FP-2 Drone Now Carries 200 kg Warhead for Deep Strikes Into Russia

Ukrainian defense company Fire Point has upgraded its FP-2 long-range strike drone to carry a 200-kilogram warhead at a range of up to 370 kilometers.

According to comments by Fire Point co-owner and chief designer Denys Shtilerman published by Ukrainian outlet TSN on May 25, the increased payload capacity was made possible by a redesigned wing structure, enabling the FP-2 to carry more fuel and a heavier warhead while maintaining its long-range strike capability.
“We changed the wing and now the FP-2 in its largest variant will carry 200 kg for 370 km—this is a kind of cheap replacement for a guided bomb,” Shtilerman said.
The company also stated that it had shifted production toward domestically manufactured engines and components for the FP-series drones. According to Shtilerman, the move allowed Fire Point to reduce production costs while scaling output.

“Thanks to scaling production and transitioning to our own engines and components, we also managed to reduce costs,” he said.
According to TSN, Fire Point has continued adapting the FP-1 and FP-2 drones to counter evolving Russian electronic warfare and air defense systems. The upgraded drones are reportedly designed with improved range, strike capacity, and resistance to electronic interference.
The FP-2 is based on the same general airframe concept as the FP-1 long-range drone, which has previously been used in Ukrainian strikes against targets deep inside Russian territory.

Fire Point also presented new configurations of the platform capable of carrying FPV drones and unguided aerial rockets. According to TSN, one version functions as a “mothership” drone capable of transporting smaller quadcopters or additional unmanned systems mounted under the wings.
“This is FP-1, FP-2—a classic flying platform, and it very much depends on what targets it is used for. You can also attach quadcopters here,” Shtilerman said.
The company additionally showcased a strike drone equipped with onboard rockets intended for use against mobile enemy groups. Developers told TSN that future variants could potentially be adapted to engage helicopters.

According to the report, Fire Point claims the redesigned wing significantly increased internal fuel capacity compared to previous variants. “Previously there was a ‘train’ with fuel: one aircraft—one ‘wagon.’ Now one aircraft is four ‘wagons’ with fuel and a ‘locomotive,’” Shtilerman said.
Earlier, Ukrainian FP-1 and FP-2 long-range strike drones were documented launching unguided aircraft rockets at Russian mobile interception teams, marking the first known use of such weapons on the platforms. The drones were reportedly equipped with launch pods carrying up to eight unguided rockets designed to target Russian mobile fire groups positioned along drone flight routes.
