According to the SBU on June 27, drones operated by the agency’s Alpha special operations unit hit technical buildings at the site. The SBU said the strike was conducted as part of the 40-day strategic influence operation approved by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Vtorovo station is operated by Transneft-Verkhnyaya Volga and serves as a key node in Russia’s petroleum products transportation network.

According to the SBU, the facility transfers diesel fuel into the Moscow Ring Petroleum Products Pipeline, which supplies major fuel depots around the Russian capital. The agency also said the station supports exports of refined petroleum products through Baltic Sea ports.

The SBU stated that its drones struck technical infrastructure at the site, triggering a detonation. The agency did not provide additional details on the extent of the damage, while Russian authorities had not publicly commented on the reported strike at the time of publication.

According to the SBU, this was the second attack on the Vtorovo facility in June. The agency previously reported striking the station on June 10. Ukrainian officials have also claimed an earlier attack on May 24, which they said caused a large fire at the site.

The Vtorovo strike followed another long-range Ukrainian operation earlier on June 27, when FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles hit the Titan-Barrikady defense plant in Volgograd, a major Russian manufacturer of missile launcher systems and artillery equipment.
