Ukraine Defense Intelligence Exposes Japan, China, Taiwan Machines in Russian Weapons Production

Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) has reported that Russia continues to rely on foreign industrial equipment to manufacture key components for its war effort, including universal gliding and correction modules, missiles, and artillery ammunition.
In a statement published on November 14, the agency said it has identified Japanese and Chinese machine tools operating inside Russian facilities producing UMPK glide-bomb modules and other weapons.
The findings were compiled by participants of an international OSINT hackathon marking one year since the launch of the War&Sanctions investigative platform.
According to the intelligence service, investigators confirmed that Russia uses Okuma (Japan) and Hision (China) machining centres on the production line of its Tactical Missiles Corporation. They also documented that the Burevestnik Institute manufactures stabilizers for mortar rounds using equipment from Taiwan-based AKIRA SEIKI.

Further analysis showed that after the start of the full-scale invasion, Russian companies supplied the Votkinsk plant—producer of Iskander missiles—with additional foreign-made machinery, including KEDE and WMT systems from China and ECOM VL-12i milling centres from Taiwan.
“The collected data is already being used to support new sanction initiatives and to limit the production capabilities of Russia’s defense industry,” the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine noted.
Earlier, Ukraine’s military intelligence conducted a multi-stage covert drone strike on Russian-held gas platforms in the Black Sea.
The operation employed a previously unseen capability: long-range submersible drone-torpedoes equipped with 80-kilogram warheads. Coordinated with surface drones, the mission represented a significant step forward in Ukraine’s use of unmanned naval systems.
