Zelenskyy: Ukraine Could Prepare and Implement Reliable Peace Plan During Period of Silence

In a period of US-backed unconditional ceasefire, Ukraine could prepare a reliable peace plan, discuss the details, and implement it, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in his evening address on March 14.

“The American side has proposed starting with an unconditional ceasefire. Then, during the period of silence, we could prepare a reliable peace plan, put it on the table, discuss the details, and implement it. We are ready,” Zelenskyy wrote.

The President emphasized that it is the responsibility of their partners to ensure Russia’s willingness to end the war. Instead of finding reasons to prolong the war for weeks, months, or even years, they believe that strong action must be taken to bring the war to a close.

“We had constructive talks with the Americans. We will continue cooperation with the Europeans and other partners. I am grateful to Saudi Arabia and everyone who is helping with mediation and negotiation platforms,” he wrote. “I strongly urge all those who have influence over Russia, especially the United States, to take strong actions that can help. The pressure must be directed at those who do not want to end the war.”

“Putin will not end the war on his own. But the power of America is enough to make him do so. Strong steps are needed. Strong pressure is needed on the one who wants to continue this war. This is what ‘peace through strength’ truly means,” Zelenskyy wrote.

The President thanked all those who are helping bring peace closer, including the United States, Europe, and the global community.

“Thanks to all the partners whose strength and diplomacy will ultimately succeed,” he concluded.

Previously on March 11, following negotiations in Saudi Arabia, Ukraine agreed to an immediate 30-day ceasefire, contingent on Russia’s participation. Russian leader Vladimir Putin signaled conditional agreement to halting hostilities but insisted on guarantees that Kyiv “will not mobilize, train, or receive weapons” during the truce, while Trump, responding to Putin’s remarks, called them “very promising, but incomplete.”

Earlier, Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Middle East affairs, held negotiations with Russian officials in Moscow. Following his visit, he was set to return to the US to discuss the meeting’s outcomes with Trump, according to Fox News on March 14.
