Russian Drones Hit Kyiv Region’s Bila Tserkva, Setting City Ablaze and Leaving One Dead

The Russian army launched a massive overnight drone strike on Bila Tserkva in Ukraine’s Kyiv region, killing at least one person and leaving widespread destruction, according to Kyiv region governor Mykola Kalashnyk on September 2.
He confirmed that the city was hit for the second night in a row, with fires breaking out across residential and industrial areas. “Unfortunately, there are victims, and we know of one person killed,” he said, noting that the man’s body was found while emergency crews battled a blaze at a garage cooperative.

By 4:45 a.m., authorities reported fires raging in multiple districts, with damage to apartment block windows, warehouses, businesses, and private garages. Residents were urged to keep windows closed due to heavy smoke.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) later confirmed the scale of the attack, saying firefighters worked for hours to extinguish fires at hangars and a three-story industrial building.

As of 7:30 a.m., the blazes had been contained. Another team of rescuers put out fires that engulfed three smaller buildings and nearby garages.
Earlier, Russian forces carried out an extensive air assault, launching almost 540 drones, eight ballistic missiles, and 37 other types of missiles against multiple regions of Ukraine, according to the government officials. The attacks caused casualties and inflicted widespread damage on residential areas and critical infrastructure.
